New Year, New Great Reads

In less than 48 hours the world will be ringing in the new year, readying themselves to write down this years list of glorious resolutions, hopefully this year one of your resolutions will be, "read more". THIS is a resolution that is easy to manage, fun, and will help to expand your horizons.

As you know, I'm a hot and steamy romance kind of gal, but I also enjoy fantasy and fiction. There is a plethora of literature out there so there's definitely something for everyone. Reading expands the mind in a way that very little else can. Through the well written word we can be transported through time, space, and emotion.

With 2016 just a few hours away, I already have a list of favorite authors and books that I'm psyched to start the year with, so here you go!

1. J.R. Ward - One of my all time favorites!! J.R. ward has had me hooked for years. While there is plenty of hot and steamy romance in her writings, romance in not the central focus of her writings. Currently J.R. has three series of books out there, "The Fallen Angels", "The Black Dagger Brotherhood", and "Bourbon Kings".

2. Sherrilyn Kenyon - Another of my serious go to authors. I do have to warn you though, Sherrilyn has several series to choose from and many of them actually intersect with one another. Before you pick up one of her books, do your homework and make sure that you start with book one, not book one of a particular series, but her very first book and then go from there. The "Dark Hunter" series is where you want to start.  Her website has a downloadable reading list booklet to help guide you Sherrilyn Kenyon Reading Guide . I actually printed the list and worked my way through, that's what's worked best for me over the years.

3. Rebekah Weatherspoon - Rebekah was a great find for me in 2015 and I'm looking forward to her 2016 release "Soul to Keep", which will be the newest edition to her "Vampire Sorority Sister" series. I will say that my favorite series from Rebekah thus far is her "Fit Series" 10 thumbs up for this series.

4. LeTeisha Newton - LeTeisha is another bright and shining star in the making, and I'm bringing in February 2016 with her up coming release "One Hour Girl". Yes, LeTeisha has proven herself a force to be reckoned with, but with "One Hour Girl" she is taking the next steps in her evolution. This is not a release that you want to miss! If you already read her work you will be awestruck, if you've never read any of her work you will immediately become I fan.

So there you have it, my top picks to start 2016 off with a bang....pun very much intended.

Much Love and Happy New Year!

Seressia Glass - Sugar and Spice and Everything Hot and Sexy

If you're a legit, die hard romance/erotica reader, you're always going to have those authors that will forever and always be on on your #TBRList, Seressia Glass is one of my top 10.

The most recent series of Seressia's is the Sugar and Spice series. This two book series is the story of four friends, who are all in recovery and looking for balance in their lives. They've been working so hard on their recovery and their new business, that they haven't made time for love. The first book, Spice, introduces us to all of the characters; but focuses in on the two main characters Nadia Spiceland, and Siobhan "Sugar" Malloy.

The main story in Spice belongs to Nadia Spiceland, and the main story in book two, Sugar, is the story of Siobhan "Sugar" Malloy.  I don't do spoilers so there's only so much that I can tell you about the books. What I can tell you is that Seressia has taken the subject of addiction and recovery and dealt with it on a very real level. It's refreshing to see all the sides of these women that are portrayed as not just beautiful on the outside, but on the inside. Their true beauty lies in the fact that are flawed, they know they're flawed, but despite all of that they make the choice to live.

I'll be honest with you, there were quite a few times that I found myself shedding tears for these women.  I came to care for them so much, that I found myself becoming anxious when I knew their stories were about to take a turn for the worse.

Seressia has definitely stepped up her story telling game, BUT, she has also stepped her erotica game. The Good Good in these two books will make your toes curl, literally. The best part is that the love making styles in each book is as unique as the characters themselves. What I'm trying to say is that you're not going to feel as if you're reading the same sex scenes over and over like their on a loop.

Each story can be read separately, but you would be better off reading them together and in order.

Well done Seressia!! I'm looking forward to a book three, perhaps?

Temptation comes in many flavors…

Nadia Spiceland works in the business of temptation. The confections she crafts at the Sugar and Spice Bakery and Café lure in the locals. But one customer is interested in more than just her delectable sticky buns…

Kane Sullivan teaches human sexuality at the nearby college, where coeds are clamoring for seats in his lectures. Nadia is reluctant to his advances, yet she also has needs. Who better to fulfill them than the man who’s referred to as “Dr. Sex” by his female students?

Soon Kane creates a hunger in Nadia that nothing can satiate. It weakens her, and that’s something she cannot risk. Not again. But Kane’s masterful touch might just be powerful enough to melt her heart—and free her to trust again… Excerpt

Uninhibited passion is all she needs to turn her life around…

Siobhan “Sugar” Malloy, co-owner of Sugar and Spice Café and part-time burlesque dancer, believes that love is for the young and foolish—and at thirty-five years old, she is neither.

But a new business venture with the sexy twenty-something owner of Crimson Bay Couriers is quickly changing her mind. Charlie O’Halloran is beyond charming—and his flirtatious manner is an unexpected breath of fresh air for Siobhan. Soon an explosively steamy affair begins, and Siobhan discovers that she loves making up for lost time.

When Charlie comes clean and admits he wants a relationship, Siobhan is struck with memories of the troubled past she is desperate to forget. But when her estranged daughter makes a surprise appearance, Siobhan must choose between the family she left behind and the new life—and new love—she’s always wanted…

Please Tell Me There's a Sequel!! Chosen by Sienna Mynx

I told you in my last post that Chosen by Sienna Mynx was going to be one of the books that I would be reading over the next few weeks. All I can say is DAMN!! THERE HAS GOT TO BE A SEQUEL!!

First let me start by saying that this isn't the first book written Mynx that I've read. But this is the first book that I've read that seemed to come to its end wrapped in beautiful paper and tied with a matching ribbon as most romance novels do, and then with one sentence, it exploded in my face! I sat there stunned and shocked, mouth agape, and silent. My mind was shouting, "I didn't see that one a commin'!"

Catching Up On All My Delicious Reading

Thanksgiving is over and it's time to move on to the gift giving holidays. There is no better gift than the written word. Over the next few weeks, for all you steamy romance readers, I'll be posting the reads that I think are five star, I may even mention a few notables. Any and/or all of these books will make perfect gifts for your friends who are into reading Good Good, or you can stuff your own stocking with something a little bit naughty and and nice. There's something to be said for self gratification! With that said let's get started.

First on that #TBR/Gift list should be Roses's Thorns by LeTeisha Newton. Rose's Thorns is the second in the "Happily Never Happened" series. The first book in the series is Sin's Pleasure, see my write up here. Pandora's Picks for October: LeTeisha Newton, Heather Killough Walden, Kym Grosso, and Crymsyn Heart

Rose's Thorns is the "Little Red Riding Hood" story turned on it's sexy head.

"If you lost your Happily Ever After because the man of your dreams died, who could ever chase the nightmares away?
Rose has taken care of her pack for decades, and is fine surviving just for them. That was until Tatiana, Fairy Godmother, shows up to fix her greatest mistake—killing Rose’s Big Bad Wolf. Now Rose’s Dimitri is back, but he isn’t completely the man she has always loved. He now has two souls that are destined to love her, and fighting to figure out who he truly is—all while setting her afire and nearly burning her place of business down, literally.
Is Rose strong enough to make their love survive even death, or will her thorns push away the only man who could ever tame her?" - LeTeisha Newton

Personally, LeTeisha Newton is one of my go to erotic romance writers. I have NEVER read one of her works and been disappointed. Honestly I don't know how she does it, but I want to thank what or whoever her muse may be.

Author Haleigh Lovell's Vivian's List and Liam's List, Dealing with Sensitive Topics Beautifully

Recently I decided to try out a web service called Book Bub. It's free, you just complete a short survey to tell them what types of books you like to read etc. and several times a week you will get an email with top picks for you based upon your likes.

On one of my first emails I received had a title called Vivian's List, by Haleigh Lovell

Her brother's best friend. A list. A love story.

After ending a horrible, scarring relationship, Vivian embraces her freedom by making a sexual bucket list. When her brother's best friend, Liam, finds it, sparks fly and hearts open.

Can Vivian heal one steamy encounter at a time?

The teaser looked pretty good and it was free, so I decided to give it a go. I was pleasantly surprised.

I try not to give up spoilers, but since this book was originally published in 2013 I'm going to give up at least some of the tapes so be warned **SPOILER ALERT**

Pandora's Picks for October: LeTeisha Newton, Heather Killough Walden, Kym Grosso, and Crymsyn Heart

Reading is one of the great pleasures of my life, I go now where without something to read. After deciding to do book reviews, articles and interviews. I realize that I read more books than I could ever write individual articles about. The solution you ask? I'm going to drop suggestions from books that I've been reading into my picks for the month. Well give it a go and see how it works!. So here goes, these are my pics for the moth of October.

Kym Grosso - Immortals of New Orleans
If I had the space I would list every single one of the books in this series, but as it stands I'm only going to list two, Leopold's Wicked Embrace, and Dimitri.

"Seductive and lethal vampire, Léopold Devereoux, returns to the Big Easy to find a killer. His search leads him to a beautiful and mysterious woman, who awakens desires and emotions that he’s long fought to keep buried. After centuries of self-imposed solitude, the billionaire philanthropist struggles to restrain his growing thirst for the intriguing, lovely female who’s captured his attention.
Laryssa Theriot, an antiques proprietor in the Vieux Carré, agrees to help the commanding yet debonair stranger, who seeks her assistance. She withholds her secret abilities, afraid to trust the man who threatens to unleash her darkest fantasies. All the while, Léopold consumes her thoughts, testing her erotic limits and bringing her to new levels of ecstasy. As the menacing force that has stalked Laryssa for years finally catches up to her, she submits, putting her life into the hands of the dominant vampire who offers his protection.
Deep in the heart of New Orleans, they embark on a perilous adventure, forced to search for an ancient sacrificial relic that they hope will save their lives. As they face formidable challenges, Léopold and Laryssa surrender to the passionate intimacy that possesses them. After hundreds of years of denying himself love, will Léopold bond to the woman who has begun to crack the impenetrable shell around his heart? As evil draws near, will Laryssa survive the demon that has come to take her soul?"
Warning: This book contains several erotic love scenes and is intended for adult readers only.

(Interview) Seressia Glass - Sweeping Us Off Our Feet One Romance At A Time

"Reading is fundamental." We all heard it when we were young. For me reading has been more than fundamental. It's a way of life. I'm most comfortable when I have a book to read, and when I finish that one, it's almost a compulsion to look for another one.  I was smack in the middle of  not so great place in my life and at times I needed to be able to take a break from reality. Books, stories were right there the way they had always  been. At this point I had barely begun to scratch the surface of paranormal romance. I started reading Sherrilyn Keynon and JR Ward, both authors par excellence, but I needed more, I needed to be able to see myself represented in what I was reading. I found just that in Seressia Glass' Shadowchaser series. For the first time I was reading a paranormal romance where the heroine was not only smart, strong, and sexy as all get out, but she was also a Sister. But that wasn't all that made me fall headlong into Seressia's writing. It's the fact that the series is a modern story, but it's beautifully and thoroughly interwoven with rich African and Egyptian culture.

From Shadowchaser I went to The Sons of Anubis series, which is written as thoroughly beautiful as Shadowchaser, but full of scorching love scenes. I haven't yet started on the Sugar and Spice series, but it's next on TBR list. I can't begin to tell you how honored I am to have afforded the opportunity to spend some time with Seressia and to share that with all of you. So with out further ado, Seressia Glass.

Romance Debutante DJ Parker Breaking Out With Sinn (Interview)

If there is one thing that I've learned from reading countless romance novels is that there are hundreds if not thousands of published authors out there, and honestly I don't know exactly how they managed to get published. But if you look them up they have quite a few works under their belts. After reading DJ Parker's "Dipping Into Sinn, I knew she wasn't one of those authors, but I would never have guessed that this book was her debut project. No sooner than I finished with book one I was chaffing at the bit to dive head first into book 2 Dipping Deeper Into Sinn, which had just come out. Read my review here - Who Knew That Sinn Could Be This Good! D.J. Parker Dipping Into Sinn 2 (Dipping Deeper Into Sinn)

From the cover to the last page, these are two books that you seriously need to have on your "To Be Read" List. As a matter of fact, I'll wager that everything that DJ Parker writes will end up on that list. But you didn't start reading this to listen to me wax poetic. So without further ado, let's hear from DJ Parker, debut author from Jessica Watkins Presents.

PE - Dipping Into Sin is was your debut novel. Talk to us about your journey to romance writing?

DJ - My journey into writing came from reading. Ever since I was in elementary school, I’ve always had a fascination with story telling. At first, I would recite my stories to my mother, get her opinion, and then write it down. Unlike most other writers, I never participated in any contests—mainly because I was always shy and self-conscious. Even in writing Dipping Into Sin, I wrestled with the idea of sending my manuscript to Jessica Watkins Presents.
When I entered high school, I decided to be apart of the newspaper committee. For fours years, I did not do any other form of creative writing that was outside of my English assignments. I lived, ate, and breathed my high school newspaper. I became the International News Editor and my primary focus was writing about public policy and politics on all of the countries outside of the United States. Even my choice of books changed while I was in high school.
By my senior year of high school, I had decided that I wanted to pursue journalism. Upon entering college, I started to become less interested in writing about international news and more focused on trying to define myself outside of my high school newspaper. For two years, I only wrote when it involved school assignments.
As I approached my senior year in college, I won a Kindle from a raffle. Instead of storing the Kindle in my desk drawer, I decided to research how to use a Kindle. The first book that I purchased was from the author, Brenda Jackson. Realizing how convenient and accessible my Kindle was, I decided to purchase more books. In less than a month of having my Kindle, I had purchased over twenty novels and managed to read every last one. I fell in love with story telling all over again. I forgot how truly amazing it is to have the ability to paint a story together and create a masterpiece. After reading my first interracial novel by Theodora Taylor, I decided to try my hand at writing again. At first, it was difficult trying to outline, format, and place all of my ideas into one story. I suffered a dry spell in which I did not know how to be my own writer. This stemmed from the years that I spent only tailoring my writing to fit that of a newspaper and college assignments. So, I put my story away and decided to spend the next year free writing and being creative.

Lisa Medley, Taking Dark and Sexy To A New Level - The Reaper Series (Book Review)

I never go anywhere without something to read, NEVER. Yes, you know about my love affair with my Kindle App...it's really the "One Click" option that gets me, as well a the "Kindle Unlimited" feature. For a small monthly feel you can check out many books as you like and return them when you're finished! Perfect for a book junkie such as myself. I'll tell you what else is feeding my addiction these days, Twitter. Oh yes, if you follow the right people they will turn you On and Out to some amazing writers that you may not otherwise have heard of.

For me, one of those authors is Lisa Medley. I was scrolling through my Twitter feed and someone had re-tweeted a post of Lisa's promoting the third installment of her reaper series, Reap and Reveal. I took one look and my "One Click" finger started to get twitchy. So I purchased it, but not before buying the first and the second installments,  Reap and Repent, and Reap and Redeem. You know I have to read all of a series, I'm quirky like that.  I didn't know what I was going to be in for. I was hoping I didn't waste my money. Every penny counts when you're a book junkie. Needless to say I was hooked by the end of the first chapter of book 1 in the series, Reap and Repent.

I don't indulge in spoilers so, I'll just re-print the series synopsis that Lisa has on her website.

The Reaper Series Synopsis:

"The only thing worse than having nothing to live for…is having everything to live for.
A small group of reapers and supernatural beings in Meridian, Arkansas are all that stands between humanity and the apocalypse when a fallen angel stages a demonic invasion. In their battle to save the world, each will meet his or her match, discovering the power of love…and the importance of risking everything to protect it."

When you're an avid romance reader you can tell relatively quickly if you're going to like a book or not. Some books you start reading and they quickly become unremarkable. By the middle of chapter one, you already know how the story is going to go . Not so with Lisa Medley's Reaper Series.

Lisa pulls you into the darkly magnetic world of The Reapers and she keeps you guessing. This series is chock full of non-stop action as well as steamy toe curling "Good Good" that is a romance must have! Each book is full bodied and the characters and plot lines are so well developed they they have the strength to stand alone. Lisa gives a smooth transition from one book to the next. You have a need to keep reading about the lives of the Reapers and all that they must endure to save not only humanity, but the ones that they love as well.

Please visit Lisa Medley's website to read more about each of the books in the series. They are all available on Amazon.com and Kindle Unlimited. If you identify yourself as a lover of Paranormal Romance then treat yourself to this series. I PROMISE you, you won't regret it.

Much Love,

Pandora ~

P.S.  - Lisa told me on Twitter that there will be a book 4!!!! I'm so in my happy place *sigh*

Rebekah Weatherspoon, The Igenious Mind Behind "The Fit Trilogy"

If I tried to tell you the exact number of adroit authors that I have stumbled upon during my love affair with my Kindle app, I would end up lying because I can't really remember. But I DO remember how I cam across Rebekah Weatherspoon. I was hanging out on Google Plus and saw a post by author Madhuri Blaylock, who is a kick ass author in her own right, referencing a series of books called The Fit Trilogies - See review here. The cover art was so smokin' hot I wanted to lick them till the ink came off, so I figured they had to be good! I wasn't disappointed.

The first thought that crossed my mind after finishing the series was God I hope there's going to be a fourth book, and the second thought was I have GOT to interview Rebekah! She is a talented writer with sense of humor to spare, and she's just getting started. So with that being said, let's talk to Rebekah.

PC - Let’s talk about the Fit Trilogy. Where did you get your ideas for your characters?

RW - Grant came to me first, mostly because I have an unhealthy obsession with Chris Hemsworth and I am OUTRAGED that he hasn’t been cast as a lead in a proper romantic comedy yet. The rest of the characters just formed themselves around Grant. LA is a really diverse city so it only made sense to give Grant a diverse set of friends, coworkers and clients.

PC - I thought the Fit Trilogy was the perfect blend of incredible characters, humor, passion, BDSM. Do you always infuse humor into your stories?

RW - I do. I like to think I’m a fairly funny person. I come from a family of very funny people and my partner cracks me up on the daily. I think humor and love go hand in hand. If you can’t laugh with the love of your life then what’s the point.

Dutch: Keeper Series Book One By Madhurie Blaylock - Alchemy of Words At It's Finest

Let me start by reminding you that I don't believe in spoilers. So this won't be a play by play of the the book. With that being said, Dutch: The Keeper Series Book One is the fourth book by Madhuri Blaylock. Dark, gritty, carnal, and passionate.

From the very first page, Blaylock paints with her words on the blank canvass of your mind taking you on a journey with Dutch Mathew and Juma Landry. First page to the last you will be completely consumed by  Dutch, Juma, The Gate, Keepers, and Poochas. Leaving no stone unturned, Blaylock carefully crafts a a world that will draw you in and hold you captive.

Truth be told when I first started reading Dutch, I thought I was simply going to be reading another paranormal romance. I couldn't have been more wrong. The romantic part of the relationship between Dutch and Juma is a catalyst for the characters, but they are not defined by or bound by that alone. If you're an avid romance reader you will be drawn to the romance piece, but you will quickly find yourself digging into the suspense aspect of the story as well.

Dutch and Juma are both emotionally scarred by events of their individual pasts, and from the day to day gritty grind of the life that they live. What I found fascinating was that its through their damage that they are brought together.

There is ABSOLUTELY nothing formulaic about Dutch. I thought that I would be able to predict the path that the characters were going to take, but I was wrong Blaylocks writing is not for the faint of heart. But I promise you that when you finish, you'll want to start all over again.

For a list of Madhuri's other works see her website Madhuri Blaylock Writes

Look for Dutch: Keeper Series Book One to release on October 12, 2015

Time To Get Fit - Fit Trilogy By Rebekah Weatherspoon

Let me preface this article by saying, there are actually more really great romance authors out there, but it's only every now and then that you come across writing that makes you say, "This author is going places." Rebekah Weatherspoon is one of those authors.

I was encouraged to read this series after I read a review on the series by author and reviewer Mhaduri Blaylock. I saw the image above and I knew that after I finished my "droolfest" over this OUTSTANDING cover art, I was going to read all three books.

Here I am three books later and I am spent!

Let's start with book one, Fit, this is the story of Violet Ryan and Grant Gibson. Out of all the female love interests Violet is my absolute favorite! The sense of cheeky humor, quick whit, and even quicker tongue that author Rebekah Weatherspoon gave her had me at times, just about to wet my pants! This is the first novella marked as #BDSM, #Contemporary, #Erotic, that will have you laughing hysterically at the same time it hits all your shot spots *wink*. You will find yourself laughing along with the characters as well as rooting for them to get it together.

Who Knew That Sinn Could Be This Good! D.J. Parker Dipping Into Sinn 2 (Dipping Deeper Into Sinn)

The Kindle App on my phone and I have a very special relationship, my Kindle App keeps me supplied with the romance novels that I crave, and I.....ok, so it might be somewhat of a one sided relationship right now, but eventually I will find something really nice to do for my app, I promise! In the meantime, I have to tell you about my most recent "Hot Find". One week ago exactly I did  search on BWWM romance and one of the books that came up was Dipping Into Sinn by D.J. Parker.

Let me just start by saying that the relationship with a good book for me starts with the cover. We feast with our eyes first. This cover jumped out at me, it looked delicious! So of course I did what I do best and hit the "one click" Kindle option and bought it. ( I really need to put myself on a book budget. PSYCH)

There are some books that take several chapters before you become invested in the characters, not so with D.J. Parker. She captures your attention from the first page. DJ makes you become emotionally invested in the characters. This is the story of Simone and Andriano. Simone Sinn is a sweet natured, intelligent young woman going off to college to pursue her dreams of becoming a doctor. On one night out with you new room mate, Simone catches the attention of smokin hot Andriano Balducci, little does she know he is set to become the next Don of the Mafia. You can read more about the book here https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25402057-dipping-into-sin

I'm not into spoilers so lets just say that Simone and Andriano may have fallen in love, and have some earth shattering sex, but things go bad before they get better. The "getting better" is where Dipping Deeper Into Sinn picks up the story. But before Simone and Andriano get to the better, they go through some major bad.

Interview with Author LeTeisha Newton, A Romance Addicts Best Friend

Between my Nook and the Kindle App on my phone I keep my romance addiction fed on a regular basis. One of the best features of e-readers and book apps is that they will make suggestions for you based on the books that you have purchased/read. After finishing up a read a few years ago, the book Theirs To Claim by LeTeisha Newton was suggested. I thought to myself, "Ok, why not, what could it hurt." After that, I had to do my utmost best to read everything that she had written to that point.

Now here I am with the great pleasure of bringing you an exclusive interview with romance author LeTeisha Newton. One of the few authors that I can say is worth burning the midnight oil over. Shifters, Greek gods, espionage, or just good'ol sexy fine hunk of man sweeps woman off her feet or in some cases it's the lady that sweeps that man off his feet *wink*.

Thank you Le'Teisha for hanging out for a bit with me on Foot Notes, (The Last Word) Book Reviews By Pandora Esperanza.

PE - How did you decide that you wanted to focus your writing in the IR/Shifter/Paranormal romance area?

LN - To be honest, I’m not just an IR romance writer. I’m just a romance author. Fantasy and Paranormal romance were my first loves after reading books by Anne Rice and Christine Feehan. I loved vampires and werewolves. I loved the idea of forever with them being the forgone conclusion; you just had to survive long enough in their world to make it there. There wasn’t a question of if your man was right for you. You knew he was perfect for you. You just had to get over yourself and the situation. I loved that, and wanted to write that. IR came in later, because I tend to write the relationships I’m normally in. I wrote what I knew, and then realized it was a hot genre. A little bit of a shock, I assure you.

It's Even Better The Second Time Around - Grey by EL James

I'll never forget the day that Fifty Shades found me.

I say it found me because I had never heard of the books. They had been round for a few years by then. I had just finished a 6 year marathon of working on and obtaining both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees, and on top of that I was going through a divorce (See 46 and Starting Over - Finding Life After Divorce Re-Mix) No worries that was long ago in a land far away. Any way, I finally had some time on my hands, way too much time, so I hit the pleasure reading. I have always loved fantasy, some science fiction, even horror. But what I needed was some romance. Not just any romance, but the hot and steamy kind.
